  • Desflurane, also referenced by its trade name Suprane, is another highly halogenated liquid anesthetic that is both nonflammable and volatile. The chemical is used with other inhalation anesthetics to produce balanced anesthesia due to the fact that it causes severe coughing when administered to the patient. Like sevoflurane, the amount of time that it takes for a patient to awaken from desflurane induced anesthesia is quite small.
