Thank you for coming to the case study section in VMSL site!

We have 4 case studies available now. Some other case studies are under development and will come soon. In our case studies, you can acquire a calibration or serum albumin mass spectrum, then view it and print it out. You can also do a database search using the data provided. To try out the case study, please follow the steps below:

• Select one case study in current cases.
• Read the problem and the background information about the case, then hit "Go to lab" in the menu on the left side.
• Select a mass spectrometer (Hint: not all instruments is workable for all cases).
• Make the correct choices for the parameters in each step of the experiments, then get the spectrum and data result.
  
  -- For MALDI and ESI
• Set the parameters for each preparation steps.
• Hit "Acquire". Try to optimize the settings if you like.
• If the mass spectrum you just acquired is satisfying, then go to the Data Explore Mode.
• Use the Data Explore display commands to look at the example spectrum with data specified in spectrum.
• You can zoom in and out the spectrum for better study on particular data range. Print out the spectrum if you wish.
• Work on some other functions to get data for analysis.
  
  --For GCMS and EICI
• Set the parameters for each preparation steps.
• Hit "Inject".
• Work on the buttons for other functions to get the spectrum and data for analysis.
